New PhD completions
11 May 2009
The Volcanic Risk Solutions group boasts two more PhD completions after a recent graduation ceremony. Dr Michael Turner and Dr Anke Zernack were awarded their PhDs by Massey University’s Vice Chancellor Mr Steve Maharey at a ceremony in Palmerston North on 11th May 2009.
Michael’s PhD research focussed on developing an understanding of eruption cycles and magmatic processes at Mt Taranaki, New Zealand, concentrating on the last 10,000 years, whilst Anke’s focussed on reconstructing the last 200,000 years of activity at Mt Taranaki. Both have seen results from their studies published in international journals, such as Geology, Bulletin of Volcanology and Sedimentary Geology, as well as being selected to be presented at international conferences.
